Veteran's Memorial Ground Breaking and Memorial Day Ceremony

Superior Court Judge Ola Lewis gave the keynote speech at the ground breaking for the Veterans' Memorial at the Town of Sunset Beach-hosted Memorial Day Ceremony in the Sunset Beach Town Park. Mayor Ron Watts officiated with an invocation by Reverend Mary Jane Wilson-Parsons.. Sunset Beach Police Chief Lisa Joyner and Fire Department Chief Kevin Dempsey conducted the flag raising for the pledge of allegiance followed by Linda Ladrick's beautiful rendition of the national anthem. LTC, US Army Retired, Gordon Coulson led the ground breaking ceremony after which Boy Scout Troop 201 laid the memorial wreath, and buglers Steven Baker and Ben Simmons concluded the ceremony with Taps. Thanks to all the Town of Sunset Beach officials who contributed to this outstanding event, to all who attended, and to all who have contributed so generously to help build the Veterans' Memorial.
